Children’s Privacy & COPPA Notice

InstaMapp is designed for collectors of all ages. Children under 13 may use InstaMapp only through a parent- or guardian-managed child account created from a paying Family plan. Children cannot sign themselves up. This notice explains how we collect, use, and protect a child’s information in line with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
How child accounts are created
A parent or guardian creates each child account from their Family plan and sets the child’s username and password. We do not require or collect a child’s email address. By creating a child account, the adult confirms they are the child’s parent or legal guardian and consent to the child’s use of InstaMapp.
Verifiable parental consent
We obtain verifiable parental consent through the parent’s paid Family subscription (an online monetary transaction tied to the parent’s payment card) together with the parent’s explicit confirmation at account creation. We keep a dated record of that consent.
What we collect from a child
We collect only what is needed to run the child’s collection: the username and password the parent sets, the child’s display name and date of birth (to apply age-appropriate protections), and the collection content the child adds (items, photos, wishlist). We do not require a child’s real name, email, address, or phone number.
How a child’s experience is protected
- Direct messaging is turned off for child accounts.
- Marketplace pricing is hidden; child accounts see a trade-only experience.
- A child cannot complete a purchase without a parent’s approval.
- We do not serve behavioral/targeted advertising to children and do not sell their information.
Parental rights
A parent can review the personal information collected from their child, ask us to delete it, and refuse further collection by closing the child account at any time from Family settings or by contacting us. Removing a child account deletes the child’s personal information, subject to limited records we must keep for legal or security reasons.
